San Antonio FC has played well defensively, but not on the offensive end. SAFC concluded their three-game road trip with a strong defensive showing, but a second half blunder would prove costly.
SAFC fell 1-0 to the Colorado Springs Switchbacks inside Switchbacks Stadium on Saturday afternoon for their second straight loss.
Colorado came out of the gate strong and attacked early. San Antonio goalkeeper Josh Ford made some early saves to keep the game scoreless. The Switchbacks converted on a corner, but the goal was disallowed.
San Antonio had two solid chances from Carlos Alvarez in the 25th and 44th minutes, but Colorado keeper Billy Thompson made huge saves to keep the score locked at zero going into the second half.
The Switchbacks scored the game-winner just after halftime when Marty Maybin took advantage of a SAFC defensive error and put the ball into the open net in the 50th minute.
SAFC had scoring chances in the second half, but could not get past the Colorado defense, falling 1-0. San Antonio collected just one out of a possible nine points during their three game road trip and will play four of their next five at home.
San Antonio FC is now 1-2-2 (5 points) on the season and will return to the pitch next Saturday when they welcome the Tulsa Roughnecks FC to Toyota Field at 7:30 p.m.
