The San Antonio Scorpions are in the very early stages of their Spring Season and have already made two key signings that will help the red and black as they try to repeat as NASL Champions.
The club has signed midfielder Joseph Nane and San Antonio native goalkeeper Matt Cardone to contracts, Head Coach Alen Marcina announced on Friday morning.
Nane is a 6’2” midfielder and won the Soccer Bowl with the New York Cosmos in 2013. He was originally selected 2010 Major League Soccer SuperDraft by Toronto FC and traded to the Colorado Rapids in 2011. In his professional career, he has seen action in the CONCACAF Champions League, Nutrilite Canadian Championship, and the MLS Cup Playoffs.
Cardone is a 6’3” goalkeeper and played Division-III at Trinity University. While at the school, he posted an impressive 0.49 career goals against average (GAA).
The Scorpions are currently 0-0-1 (0 points) on the season and will return to the pitch tomorrow night to welcome Indy Eleven to Toyota Field at 7:30 p.m.
