The No. 3 seed San Antonio Rampage will take on the No. 6 seed Oklahoma City Barons as the two teams open their best-of-five 2015 Calder Cup Western Conference Quarterfinals series tonight at 7 p.m. inside the Cox Convocation Center.
Tonight marks the fourth playoff appearance for the silver and black in franchise history. San Antonio played the Chicago Wolves in the first round in 2012 and won the series 3-2 with a dramatic overtime win in Chicago. The Rampage and Barons met in the 2012 Western Conference Semifinals where Oklahoma City defeated San Antonio in five games and won the series 4-1.
This season, San Antonio went 9-1-2 against the Edmonton Oilers affiliate. San Antonio has a 5-1 record in Oklahoma City and a 4-0-2 record at the AT&T Center, with 39 goals for and 31 goals against. Bobby Butler led the Rampage in scoring, but is sidelined with a torn Achilles. Andrew Miller was the hot player for Oklahoma City with 27 goals.
San Antonio finished the regular season with a record of of 45-23-7-1 and 98 points for third in the Western Conference. Oklahoma City started hot, but ended the season 41-27-5-3 with 90 points.
