The soccer friendly between the United States and Mexico on Wednesday could be cancelled over pitch issues at the Alamodome according to a report.
According to Media Tempo, Mexican Soccer Federation general manager Hector Gonzalez Inarritu was not happy that Mexico was unable to practice on the pitch due to poor conditions and instead practiced at Trinity University. Inarritu was so unhappy, he reportedly has considered refusing to play.
Televisa Deportes reporter Miguel Gurwitz tweeted the field was ‘uneven’ and ‘full of patches’ on Tuesday afternoon.

The field at the Alamodome is laid down flat over concrete. A sold out crowd of over 65,000 fans are expected to attend the game and cancelling the match could anger more than just a few fans. It is unclear what would happen if Mexico does choose not to play and forfeits the match. However, officials say the field will be ready by match time tomorrow.

As of now, the match is scheduled to go-ahead as planned. Mexico and the United States will kick things off at 7:30 p.m. and Red Black 90 will have a recap following the game.
