The San Antonio Rampage (18-10-3-0) look to build on their road success when they face the Toronto Marlies (13-15-5-0) for a two-game series beginning tonight.

San Antonio rang in the new year with an 8-4 win over the Western Conference leading Utica Comets on Thursday afternoon. The eight goals tied a franchise record for most goals in a game and set a new franchise record for goals scored on the road. Bobby Butler scored his team leading 13th goal of the season and goaltender Dan Ellis stopped 28 of 32 Utica shots.

Toronto closed out 2014 with a 3-2 overtime loss to the Adirondack Flames. Brad Ross and Spencer Abbott netted goals for the Marlies in the loss and goaltender Garret Sparks stopped 33 of 35 saves on the night.

This is the second meeting of the season between the two teams. Toronto defeated the Rampage 3-2 on November 7, despite San Antonio taking a one goal lead into the third period. Shane O’Brien and Andrew Yogan each notched goals in the loss.

The Silver and Black are 10-6-1-3 all-time against the Toronto Maple Leafs affiliate, but were 0-2-1-1 last season and are looking for their first win against Toronto since the 2011-12 season. The two teams will play a total of three more times, twice this weekend and once more next Sunday.

The Rampage and Marlies will drop the puck at 6 p.m. inside the Ricoh Coliseum. Stephen Anderson will have a full report after the game. Be sure to follow @andersonstevem and @RampageCentral for live updates.
