San Antonio Stars guard Becky Hammon can add another award to her long resume in the WNBA as she is gets ready to hang it up after 16 seasons.

Hammon was named the recipient of the 2014 Kim Perrot Sportsmanship Award, the league announced Saturday.

“Knowing Kim Perrot and being a coach during her time in the league, I think it is really special that Becky receives this award,” said Stars Head Coach Dan Hughes. “I think it means a lot to the league. It shows people recognize not only the kind of player she is, but the kind of sportsmanship she has exhibited this season and throughout her career. I am just very happy for Becky.”

The award is presented each season to a player who exemplifies the ideals of sportsmanship on the court, including ethical behavior, fair play and integrity.

Hammon is just the third Stars player to get the honor. Both Vickie Johnson and Ruth Riley previous won the award in 2008 and 2011 respectively.

The Stars trail their best-of-three series with the Minnesota Lynx and will take the court tonight for Game 2 at the AT&T Center at 6 p.m.
