Avalanche trade Colin Smith to Toronto

The Colorado Avalanche have traded forward Colin Smith to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for forward Shawn Matthias and a fourth-round selection in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, the team announced on Sunday afternoon.

Matthias appeared in 51 games with Toronto this season, posting six goals and 11 assists. Prior to that, the 28-year-old spent time with the Vancouver Canucks, tallying a career-high 18 goals and 27 points in 78 games.

The Rampage are currently on their Rodeo Road Trip and will return to the ice on Tuesday night to face the Bakersfield Condors at 9 p.m.
