Avalanche sign Mikko Rantanen

The Colorado Avalanche have signed forward Mikko Rantanen to a three-year contract, the team announce on Monday.

The 18-year-old was signed to an entry level contract and was Colorado’s 10th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. Rantanen tallied nine goals and 19 assists for TPS in the Finnish Elite League last season.

He also played for Finland in the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship, totaling four goals in five games. Prior to that, Rantanen played for the TPS junior team and led them to the league championship with 14 points.

The Rampage will drop the puck on the 2015-16 season in October.
