Avalanche acquire D Brandon Gormley

The Colorado Avalanche have acquired defenseman Brandon Gormley from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for the rights of defenseman Stefan Elliott.

Gormley was selected 13th overall by the Coyotes in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He tallied one goal and four assists in 27 games for Arizona during the 2014-15 season. He also spent time with the Portland Pirates last season and recorded three goals and seven assists.

The 23-year-old represented Canada in the at the 2012 World Junior Championship.


The Rampage will drop the puck on the 2015-16 season on October 10 against the Texas Stars before returning home to the AT&T Center for their home opener against Bakerfield at 7 p.m.
