Andy Thomson has been named the Assistant Coach of San Antonio FC, the team announced late Monday afternoon.
I am really excited to have Andy join our staff,” said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. “When we were putting together the technical staff, we felt it very important to have an expert on football fitness and Andy is certainly that. As we build this program we will make sure the players are robust and fresh for games, and Andy certainly brings those insights for us.”
Thomson has worked with Powell previously and was the Director of High Performance with Georgia United UFA last season.
The Scotland native’s background with athletic development goes back to his home, where he was the Scottish Institute of Sport.
San Antonio FC will open their first season in the Alamo City on the road April 3 against the Seattle Sounders 2 before returning home for their home opener on April 9 against the Swope Park Rangers at Toyota Field.
