San Antonio FC has been named Alen Marcina as the first team Assistant Coach, the club announced on October 31.

The Canadian has spent five seasons coaching in the North American Soccer League, leading the now-defunct San Antonio Scorpions (NASL) to a 2014 Championship. He recently led the Des Moines Menace (PDL) to an undefeated 13-0 regular season record.

“We’re excited to have Alen transition into the first team from our Academy,” SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell said. “We’ve been working together for the past year on several projects, and his professionalism and attention to detail are impressive. We’re looking forward to finalizing the roster for 2019 together and getting ready for preseason camp.”

Marcina joins the SAFC first team technical staff after joining the SAFC Pro Academy staff in August.
